STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE [SOP]


An SOP is a step-by-step procedure specific to operations of an organization that describes the activities necessary to complete routine tasks in order to achieve its long term goals. The SOP must be in accordance with industry regulations, governing laws or even just organization's self-imposed standards for running the business/operations.

Here, each sector can form its own unique SOP and hence it can also be referred as Standing Operating Procedure.


It would involve:
  • Identification of Steps/Processes
  • Collection of data followed by detailed analysis
  • Planning and discussion
  • Drafting and implementation
  • Evaluation / re-evaluation of the processes and the outcome
  • Revisiting the drawing board wherever & whenever necessary
